Fraud is commonly defined as deliberate deception for unfair or unlawful personal gain. Patients, physicians, other medical providers and attorneys all may engage in fraud. Healthcare fraud is a major growth industry that costs millions annually, which cost is passed on to the public. It is not a problem that will correct itself.

Any attempt to eradicate fraud must include prevention, investigation, and prosecution. Dr. Lichtor presents many examples of accidental injury, such as auto accidents, slip and falls, home hazards, and more. You will learn the ways to investigate claims and discover whether a claimant has truly been injured. You will also read about the current methods of prevention.

Essential to this task is physician compliance with federal regulations for documentation and conformance with recognized medical guidelines for patient evaluation, management and billing. To stop doctor-patient deception, there must be early validation of an injury claim and limita

insurance fraud?
Yes.

But you can just go down to the court house, and get married on your lunch hour, to fix that.Not necessarily. Firstly check to see what your health plan's definition of "family" and "spouse" is. Having a child and living in the same house with a partner might meet the Plan's requirements.

Secondly, your State might have particular rules that qualify you and your partner to enroll in a private health plan as a family.

Lastly, does your state recognize Common Law marriages? If so, being together for 9 years and having 3 children together probably will fit the bill. In that case, you probably have been legally married for a while.

If none of the above are true, I wouldnt call it insurance fraud but your partner might not be eligible for coverage. In that case the insurance co might not pay any claims filed on his behalf or will want it's money back for claims already paid so tread carefully. I wouldnt pick up the phone and ask the insurance co straight out because that will tip them off. Instead, I'd approach your HR dept and ask someone there.

On a side note, it can be messy having a situation like yours if there is some sort of contingency event. Suppose something happened to you or your partner. Can you legally inherit their property? Are you eligible to receive a life insurance (hopefully you have it, since you have 3 kids) payout? Stuff like that. Whatever your personal beliefs regarding marriage are, being married affords you rights and protections (and obligations) that unmarried people do not have. Look into it.Yes.

He's not your husband.

He's a long term shack up.

When the health insurance company finds out -- they will come after you for anything they paid for on his behalf.

How about a trip to the court house and make it legit? People have gotten married for worse reasons!Hi,

I think sothere is right. You're carrying on a live-together.This type of relationship is gaining a kind of legal and social status these days.So,you should check this out from a lawyer.

Operation Dark Horizon - Auto Insurance Fraud Bust

Florida law enforcement officers arrested 17 people and are seeking another eight individuals on fraud-related charges in "Operation Dark Horizon," the largest car insurance fraud bust in the state so far this year. The 25 people charged, including a clinic owner, doctors, clinic employees and staged accident recruiters, are accused of participating in schemes to bilk insurance companies through fraudulent personal injury protection (PIP) claims. Together they face 142 various charges, including racketeering, staging an accident, insurance fraud, grand theft and organized scheme to defraud. According to the NICB, Florida has three of the top five cities nationally for questionable medical claims associated with staged accidents—Tampa, Miami and Orlando.

Who does medical billing and coding or healthcare insurance billing?
Just my opinion - I don't do it, but have a little knowledge of it. It is alot of work. There are many rules to all the different insurance companies. I would suggest maybe medical transcription. My friend does it and makes alot of money. She took a course at a local college and works at home transcribing for an orthopedic group.

Be careful of alot of the places offering to learn medical billing at home. My sister-in-law paid a few hundred dollars to buy a program and it stinks. It basically justs gives you sample letters to send to the doctors to get your business. Waste of money. I would suggest that if you are interested in doing it, to see if a local college has some classes to take; instead of wasting your money on a scam.

But whatever you decide, good luck!Visit the medical association of billers at this link http://www.e-medbill.com then read their forum. You'll have all the answers..

Among the features that made this casebook a success:

Coverage that focuses on the big picture of federal-state regulatory roles in addition to the traditional insurance coverage topics;

Extensive use of statutory materials, presented through problems;

Manageable assignments, most structured to contain one major case followed by informative notes and questions and a problem;

insurance policy?
starting i advice you to take 2 policies .
1, for you with your son as your nominee to meet any contingency in case you die . this policy will also be a form of savings for you in future . plan this policy such that it matures when your child is ready to go to collage or gets married or so.

2,read this well take a child linked policy . that your life is insured and the money is paid to your child in case you die when the child is 18 or so. once you die there is a clause that says that no premium needs to be paid till the child is 18

but dont worry it will not happenHi, This is very nice to know that I you are interested in a life insurance policy for your child. Up to my knowledge you must be considered about your child's education plan.
you have following options
1) Invest in any saving plan either Mutual funds/ post office/ bank FDs
2) Life Insurance on your child
3) Insurance on your/ your husband's life.

This is you to who has decide:
My Suggestions:
a) If you want maximum returns with assurity of deposits you must go for post office schemes.
b) if you have knowledge of Mutual funds [MFs] you should go for ULIPs or Direct MFs.
c) you will get maximum benefits by taking a policy on your/ your husband's life.

Private or LIC of India
No doubt LIC has completed 50 yrs in the sector of Life insurance and is backed with Government of India. But private players are also offering good plans. IRDA is the monitering organization on all these life insurers.

* AMP Sanmar, A pvt life Insurer had closed its business with in 2yrs.

The best is first you decide for the parameters you want for your future then go ahead.

About Me.
Life Insurance Advisor for LIC of India form last 5yrs.All Insurance companies have a variety of policies. I would advise you to go for a term policy or money back policy for 25 years; as may suit you.
i am mentioning 25 years term, because by then you may retire or near retirement and your son will reach almost independent status.
money back policy will provide you with cash in between, which you can use of son's education. nowadays education is becoming very expensive.
All providers are governed by insurance regulatory authority of India. However, the returns differ, and there is no guarantee that returns will follow suit with historical performance.
investment in mutual fund is not an alternative for insurance.
the objectives are different.
Hence do not compare them on the basis of returns for making decisions.This is an experience I am giving you.

Have insured with LIC, even though their offices are dirty and their employees are little shabby, this is the only company which follows the regulator guidelines.
When I bought a product from a private co. I was told that I have to pay 10,000 for 3 yrs and I will get back more than 50,000, but to my shock I didn't even receive the amount paid.
Private co., are fleecing the unaware customers.
Be careful in selecting the company.

Health Insurance Policy Terms

(Best Syndication) Employer based health coverage is disappearing leaving many employed individuals to make their own health care insurance decisions. Due to the high cost of health insurance, many employers are either scaling back their coverage or eliminating it all together, according to a survey by the non-partisan Kaiser Family Foundation. So what are the differences in health care planes, and which one is best for you? This presentation will provide some information. But first: what is health insurance? Health insurance is a form of group insurance, where policy holders share the risk. Not everyone gets sick at the same time, so most of the premiums go to paying the expenses of those who are. For the most part, in the United States, health insurance is provided by private insurance companies who must make a profit. . Here are some terms: Premium: A premium is the amount of money the policy holder pays each month for their coverage. Deductible: The deductible is the amount the policy holder has to pay out-of-pocket before the health plan kicks in and pays. If a policy holder has a 00 deductible, he or she must pay the first one thousand dollars. The expenses may include doctor's visits, medication, hospitalization etc. Copayment: The copayment is the amount that the policy holder must pay for a doctor's visit or other service. For instance, a policy holder may have to pay a co-pay for each doctor visit. Coinsurance: Coinsurance is similar to a copayment ...
